In the invoice designer, you currently manage design templates for invoices. There you decide which elements appear on the template, where they are placed, and how they look.
Template Overview
The designer start page shows all existing design templates.
From there, you can:
- Search templates
- Open a template
- Duplicate, rename, or delete templates
- Mark one template as the default design
- Create new custom design templates
On the Free plan, built-in standard designs can be opened. Additional custom designs and editing of further templates are Premium features.
Designer Layout
When editing, the designer is structured into three areas:
- Left: Element list with all building blocks of the template
- Center: The working canvas with the A4 preview
- Right: Properties of the currently selected element
At the top, the header gives you actions such as Back, Help, Preview, and Save.
Adding Elements
You can add new elements directly from the list on the left into the template.
Depending on the template, this includes items such as:
- Sender and recipient sections
- Header and footer texts
- Line item table and totals block
- Dividers, free text, images, or QR codes
Editing Elements
As soon as you select an element, the matching settings appear on the right. There you can adjust things such as:
- Position and size
- Colors and opacity
- Font family, font size, and alignment
- Visibility, locking, and stacking order
Guides & DIN Overlay
The toolbar lets you turn on layout helpers such as:
- Grid and measurements
- Fold marks and punch mark
- DIN 5008 areas
- Safety margin and writing area
If elements overlap critical areas or required content is missing, Billance shows warnings directly inside the designer.
Preview & Saving
- Use Preview to open a clean document preview without editing frames
- Click the title area in the header to edit the template name and description
- Save stores your changes permanently
Notes for Free & Premium
- The standard template can also be opened on the Free plan
- Some additional elements and custom design templates are Premium features
- If a template or element is locked, Billance shows this directly inside the designer
