How do I open and view an e-invoice?

Choose your XML file or a ZUGFeRD/Factur-X PDF with embedded invoice XML. Billance reads supported invoice data locally in your browser and presents a clear view. No registration is required.

Can I read XRechnung without specialised software?

Yes. The web viewer displays supported XRechnung files in UBL or CII syntax. You need a current browser with JavaScript, but no additional desktop application.

Can this viewer extract data from every PDF invoice?

No. The PDF must contain readable invoice XML, as used by ZUGFeRD or Factur-X. Regular PDFs, images and scans are not converted to invoice data using OCR.

Is the viewer free without an account?

Yes. You can use the viewer for free without an account and open several invoices at once, switching between them in the list. Technical limits are 20 MB per file and 10 MB for XML data.

Is my invoice uploaded to a server?

No. Invoice contents are processed locally in your browser. The website loads program files but does not send your selected invoice to a server for processing.

Does displaying an invoice mean it is valid?

No. The view shows extracted data and does not confirm business or formal correctness. Use the e-invoice validator if you need a detailed validation report.

Why does the invoice look different from the original PDF?

The viewer builds its display from structured XML data. It does not copy the PDF design or letterhead. Hybrid invoices can have differences between PDF and XML; this view does not confirm that they match.

Why do the gross total and amount due differ?

The invoice total including VAT (BT-112) includes tax. The amount due (BT-115) also accounts for amounts already paid (BT-113) and any rounding amount (BT-114). With no rounding, a €119.00 gross invoice and a €50.00 advance payment leave €69.00 to pay. Compare these values with the original and investigate unclear totals in the validator.

XRechnung uses UBL or CII XML syntax. The viewer organises recognised fields into invoice details, parties, line items and totals. Supported UBL credit notes can also be opened.

Read ZUGFeRD and Factur-X

These hybrid formats combine a visible PDF with embedded XML invoice data. This viewer displays the structured XML part, so it does not reproduce the original PDF layout.

Regular PDFs and scans

A PDF without embedded invoice XML does not provide the data this viewer needs. Photos and scanned invoices are not read using OCR. Use the XML file or the original ZUGFeRD PDF for a structured view.

Which invoice details can you see?

The summary shows the invoice number, issue date, due date and currency where present. It also includes the seller and buyer, line items with quantities and prices, and net amounts, tax and gross totals. Payment information and references are included in the view. Expandable sections display further extracted fields, such as tax breakdowns, allowances, charges and additional references. The available detail depends on the source file.

View invoices in your browser – keep your data local

You select a file on your device; its contents are not sent to Billance for processing. Processing runs in your browser. The page and required program files are loaded over the internet. This viewer does not store your invoice in an account or cloud archive. Remove the file or close the page to end the view. Files you download locally remain on your device.

Viewing or validating: which do you need?
