Instructions for the Billance desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Billance can be used free of charge. Billance Premium removes the limits of the free tier and unlocks additional features. This article explains what is included, where your subscription is managed and what happens after it expires.

What Premium includes

  • Unlimited e-invoices in ZUGFeRD and XRechnung as well as all document types
  • Cloud Sync across several devices
  • Automatic receipt recognition and the local PDF converter
  • DATEV export for your tax advisor
  • Custom invoice design with your own logo
  • Automatic and transferable backups
  • Custom product categories, units and text blocks

When a feature hits the limit of the free tier, Billance shows a note with the path to an upgrade – nothing is lost in the process.

Trial period

To get started there is a seven-day free trial with full Premium access. Billing only starts afterwards, unless you cancel before. The trial is available once per account.

Where your subscription is managed

What matters is where you took it out. Billance shows the provider directly in the subscription settings:

  • Billance Web – managed on the website under Profile → Subscription
  • Apple App Store – managed in the subscription settings of your Apple ID
  • Google Play – managed in the Google Play subscription settings
  • Microsoft Store – managed in the subscription settings of your Microsoft account

Cancellation and plan changes always run through the provider you subscribed with. A second subscription with a different provider is not possible while an active one exists – cancel the existing one first in that case.

Understanding the status

  • Active – the subscription is running and renews on the stated billing date
  • Trialing – the free trial is still running
  • Canceled – Premium remains usable until the end date, after that the free tier applies again
  • Expired – Premium features are locked and can be brought back by reactivating

Offline and after expiry

Without an internet connection Billance shows the last known subscription status and points out that it may be outdated. A renewal requires an internet connection.

After an expiry your data is fully preserved. Premium features are paused: Cloud Sync stops, automatic backups no longer run, and configurations such as backup schedules stay stored and take effect again after a reactivation.

Desktop app

Using it in the desktop app

You find your subscription through the user menu in the sidebar under Subscription. If the subscription is managed through the website, Manage on website takes you there directly.
